It's Never Enough

This morning I read this post on The Meanest Mom's blog about a wife who was recently widowed when she lost her husband while he was serving in the military. You can read her story of loss and hope here on Lady A's blog. It's touching story and quite amazing. Amara, the wife, was on the Internet communicating with her husband when she actually heard him collapse, and she even heard the people coming in to help him. So scary. Then before she knew it, 2 officers where on her door step. Such tragedy.

Then today, I saw a man in a wheelchair on the side of the road. He had a cardboard sign and I don't know what it said, but I can guess. While at the red light, I thought about my kids in the car. I wondered if Jed could see this man. I wondered what kind of answers I would give if he did say something. He never said anything. I glanced over, and watched a soldier in cammo walk up to him and give him some money. As we drove home, I thought about what I had read this morning, about a soldier who gave the ultimate sacrifice - who left behind a young family. I thought about my brother in law, who has more than served his country. He has paid the price of health issues, missed family moments, and continues to work for our safety and freedom. Yet, here was a soldier, who felt that despite all that he does for our freedom, its not too much for him to also stop and help someone in need. Its never really enough. I am grateful for this example of selflessness in even the smallest dose.
