Potholes and Blizzards, and the downside to being on time to Church...

I don't know much about winters in other parts of the country, but in Indiana, they seem to cause chaos to the roads. I thought our former town had lots of pot holes, but now I realize South Bend takes the prize. Geesh. I have seen some giant ones, about the size of a bigfoot print. The second the weather warms, the snow melts and you can see all the crappy holes in the road. We went through a drive through, it was flooded, so you couldn't see the giant bigfoot pothole until after you busted over it. So after a week of swerving, break slamming, and chaos, it's cold again. In fact, I believe it may be the coldest day of the season. It is snowing, it is also extremely windy. 30-45mph in fact. Oh and it's 8 degrees. But it feels like -20. Geesh. So this crazy blizzard is no fun. We had church this morning and had really hoped they would cancel. We found out after church that they would have canceled, but people were showing up for church by the time they tried to decide. Darn. We were totally early to church. We can only blame ourselves. The roads were rotten on the way home, windy gusts of snow, reducing visibility to zero. Good times. But we all survived and are home and safe and warm. Now we cross our fingers for Erick to not have to go to work tomorrow!!

Today's lesson that Erick taught was about God's creations. We talked about how even the tinest clover and giant moutain were all created by God. How amazing. We talked about not appreciating these things, big and small. As I stare out my window, winter storms raging, I see the power of the Almighty. Indeed.

Becca, you captured my thoughts exactly. Pot holes, winter, snow, wind, freezing cold...I'm ready for spring.

This winter has been crazy across the US. I am definitely going to need to check our alignment after this winter. They closed down part of our street due to huge pothole ditch.
